An Occasion to Say Goodbye
So now we’ve arrived at the funeral
For someone so loved and so beautiful;
An occasion to say goodbye to one gone;
An occasion to reflect and think on.
Members of family and friends are all here
To show love and respect for one dear,
One who by living enriched the ones left,
Who by dying leaves them lost and bereft.
Though our dearest may no longer be living,
Henceforward they still will be giving.
Through left memories, we share in their being
And in their spirit our souls they’ll be seeing.
In partner, children, family and friends,
Stays a remnant that will never end.
A living body may no longer be here
But their presence will not disappear.
Our loved one has not lived in vain,
Though just now we feel lost in pain,
For their presence on earth left creation
Of a new life of hope, eternal bond and elation.
